As of April 1, 2026, the issuance of electronic money was carried out by 8 banks and Kazpost JSC. Payment organizations act as operators of 36 out of the 40 electronic money systems functioning in Kazakhstan.
In the first quarter of 2026, Kazakhstani electronic money issuers issued (emitted) electronic money in the amount of KZT 234.1 billion. The number of opened electronic wallets exceeded 49 million.
In Q1 2026, the volume of transactions using electronic money issued by Kazakhstani issuers within Kazakhstan amounted to 43.5 million transactions totaling KZT 275.2 billion (compared to the same period in 2025, the number of transactions and the total value decreased by 31.4% and 17.7%, respectively).
As of April 1, 2026, the volume of transactions using electronic money in favor of individual entrepreneurs and legal entities amounted to KZT 255.1 billion (a decrease of 13.7% compared to Q4 2025), while transactions in favor of individuals amounted to KZT 20.0 billion (an increase of 2.2 times).
