Monetary Policy Committee

The Monetary Policy Committee is a decision-making body on monetary policy issues.

Functions

sets the base rate,
sets the interest rates on the main operations of monetary policy,
makes decisions on other issues of monetary policy that are not within the exclusive competence of the Board of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.

The Monetary Policy Committee issues decrees on matters within its competence.

Composition

Chairman of the Committee - Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, responsible for financial stability issues in terms of the development of the financial market and financial organizations, and cooperation with the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market;
Deputy Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan responsible for monetary policy and financial stability issues;
Deputy Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan responsible for monetary operations;
Deputy Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Head of the Permanent Representative Office of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty;
Director of the Monetary Policy Department;
Director of the Monetary Operations Department;
Director of the Financial Stability and Research Department;
Director of the Balance of Payments Department;
Director of the Research and Analytics Department of the Permanent Representative Office of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty;
