On the whole 35.2 mln. transactions to the amount of 177.6 trl. KZT (or 1 167.4 bln. US dollars) were conducted through payment systems of Kazakhstan (Interbank System of Money Transfer and Interbank Clearing System) in 2013. As compared to 2012 quantity of payments in payment systems increased by 8.9% (by 2 870.2 thousand transactions) and amount of payments increased by 4.0% (by 6.9 trl. KZT).

 

Interbank System of Money Transfer (ISMT).

Number of participants as of 1 January 2014 made up 50[1].

In 2013 13.9 mln. transactions to the amount of 172.8 trl. KZT (1 135.7 bln. US dollars) were conducted through ISMT.

As compared to 2012 quantity of payments increased by 12.9% (by 1 585.2 thousand transactions) and amount of payments increased by 3.8% (by 6.3 trl. KZT).

On an average 56.4 thousand transactions to the amount of 702.3 bln. KZT passed through ISMT per day in 2013 which is more than the level of 2012 in respect of quantity by 13.4% (by 6.6 thousand transactions) and more in respect of amount by 4.2% (by 28.3 bln. KZT). At that the average amount of one payment document in ISMT during 2013 made up 12.5  mln. KZT and less as compared to 2012 by 8.1% (by 1 095.6 thousand KZT).

At that through ISMT, system-significant payment system of the country, during 2013 97.3% of total value of non-cash payments in the country and 39.4% of their total quantity were processed, which gives evidence of fulfillment by ISMT of intended purpose in conducting the most large-size and high-priority payments.    

 

Interbank Clearing System.

Number of participants in the Interbank Clearing System as of 1 January 2014 made up 39. 

Flows of retail payments during 2013 made up 21.4 mln. documents to the amount of 4 814.9 bln. KZT (31.7 bln. USD). As compared to 2012 quantity of documents in clearing system increased by 6.4% (by 1 285.1 thousand documents) and amount of payments increased by 14.1% (by 596.3 bln. KZT).

On an average 86.8 thousand documents to the amount of 19.6 bln. KZT passed through clearing system per day, which is more than the level of 2012 in respect of quantity of payments by 6.8% (by 5.6 thousand transactions), in respect of amount of payments by 14.6% (by 2.5 вln. KZT). At that the average amount of one payment in Interbank Clearing System made up 225.5 thousand KZT which is more as compared to 2012 by 7.3% (by 15.3 thousand KZT).

Moreover, in the Interbank Clearing System designed for conducting payments not being high-priority and not exceeding amount of 5 mln. KZT, there were carried out 60.6% of total quantity of non-cash payments in the country and 2.7% of their total value, which also gives evidence of fulfillment by clearing system of it intended purpose in conducting significant quantity of payments to small amounts.
