On the whole 7,7 mln. transactions to the amount of 43 230,2 bln. KZT (or 254,0 bln. US dollars) were conducted through payment systems of Kazakhstan (Interbank System of Money Transfer and Interbank Clearing System) in I quarter of 2014. As compared to I quarter of 2013 number of payments in payment systems decreased by 2,7% (by 212,9 thousand transactions), while increased amount of payments by 20,2% (by 7 265,1 bln. KZT).

 

Interbank System of Money Transfer (ISMT)

Number of participants as of 1 April 2014 made up 50[1].

In I quarter of 2014 3,1 mln. transactions to the amount of 42 196,0 bln. KZT (247,9 bln. US dollars) were conducted through ISMT.

As compared to similar period of last year number of payments decreased by 0,4% (by 12,9 thousand transactions), while amount of payments decreased by 20,4% (by 7 158,4 bln. KZT).

On an average 54,9 thousand transactions to the amount of 753,5 bln. KZT passed through ISMT per day in I quarter of 2014 which is less than the level of the similar period of 2013 in respect of quantity by 1,4% (by 0,7 thousand transactions) and more in respect of amount by 22,6% (by 138,8 bln. KZT). At that the average amount of one payment document in ISMT during I quarter of 2014 made up 13,7 mln. KZT and decreased as compared to I quarter of 2013 by 20,9% (by 2,4 mln. KZT).

At that through ISMT, system-significant payment system of the country, during I quarter of 2014 97,6% of total value of non-cash payments in the country and 39,7% of their total quantity were processed, which gives evidence of fulfillment by ISMT of intended purpose in conducting the most large-size and high-priority payments.

 

Interbank Clearing System.

Number of participants in the Interbank Clearing System as of 1 April 2014 made up 39.

Flows of retail payments during I quarter of 2014 made up 4,7 mln. documents to the amount of 1 034,3 bln. KZT (6,1 bln. USD). As compared to I quarter of 2013 volume of documents in clearing system decreased by 4,1% (by 200,0 thousand documents), while value of payments increased by 11,5% (by 106,6 bln. KZT).

On an average 83,3 thousand documents to the amount of 18,5 bln. KZT passed through clearing system per day, which is less than the level of the similar period of 2013 in respect of quantity of payments by 2,4% (by 2,0 thousand transactions) and more in respect of amount of payments by 13,5% (by 2,2 bln. KZT). At that the average amount of one payment in Interbank Clearing System made up 221,7 thousand KZT which is more as compared to I quarter of 2013 by 16,3% (by 31,0 thousand KZT).

Moreover, in the Interbank Clearing System designed for conducting payments not being high-priority and not exceeding amount of 5 mln. KZT, there were carried out 60,3% of total quantity of non-cash payments in the country and 2,4% of their total value, which also gives evidence of fulfillment by clearing system of it intended purpose in conducting significant quantity of payments to small amounts.
