Inflation Trends in Kazakhstan’s regions in April 2022

In April 2022, annual inflation in the country accelerated and made 13.2% (12.0% in March). In terms of regions, annual inflation sped up in all 17 regions.

The highest acceleration was recorded in Turkistan Region (from 12.9% in March to 15.5% in April).

Growth pace of foodstuff prices in April rose to 17.9% (15.4% in March). Maximum increase in prices for goods of this group was recorded in Turkistan Region (21.3%).

Growth rate of prices for non-food products also grew to 11.1% (10.9% in March). Maximum value was reported in the Regions of Turkistan, East Kazakhstan and Nur-Sultan City (12.4% each), and minimum in Shymkent city (9.2%).

Prices for paid services in April increased by 8.9% (8.3% in March), meanwhile prices rose significantly above the national level in East Kazakhstan Region (10.8%), significantly lower – in Aktobe Region (6.6%).

Monthly inflation in the country was 2.0% in April 2022, which is higher than the average value of April inflation for the past 5 years (0.6% for 2017-2021).

Prices in April 2022 increased in all 17 regions above their average historical rate. The highest acceleration of the monthly inflation was indicated in Turkistan Region (3.0%).
