National Bank of Kazakhstan warns of more frequent cases of fraudulent schemes that involve distribution of false investment offers using the digital tenge.

Fraudsters vigorously distribute advertisements on social media about a "state investment project of the digital tenge," which allegedly guarantees short-term returns and support from the state and the National Bank. Using these messages, the fraudsters lure users to phishing sites, where, under the guise of a "limited offer" or "last chance," they urge citizens to invest in a fictitious project. Personal accounts appear on these fake platforms, displaying "growing profits" to entice citizens to make repeat investments. As a result, the fraudsters fraudulently gain access to funds of the citizens.

The National Bank informs that the digital tenge is a digital form of the national currency and legal means of payment. The digital tenge is not an investment source and is not intended for profit.

In this connection, the National Bank has instructed citizens to exercise caution when clicking online advertising links and receiving calls from unknown numbers. Please verify information only through official sources and do not install remote access applications.

Furthermore, the National Bank requires individuals not to disclose their personal information, not to share SMS codes and bank card details, and not to transfer money to third parties.

We remind that employees of the National Bank do not make audio or video calls, do not service individual accounts, do not make financial investments in various mutual funds and financial products, do not process funds, and do not process payments to individuals.
