About Extension of Concurrent Circulation Period for 10,000 Tenge Banknotes

National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan announces an extension of a concurrent circulation period for 10,000 tenge banknotes for another year, until June 2027.

This decision was made in line with offers from the Association of Financiers of Kazakhstan and provides for the possibility of using old-style banknotes in settlements for an extra year, as well as their gradual replacement with new-style banknotes.

The National Bank continues phased issue of banknotes from the new Saka Style series, using a concurrent circulation mechanism that ensures gradual replacement of the old-style banknotes with the new ones.

Along with that, we also note that after the concurrent circulation period ends, all banks and Kazpost JSC will exchange old-style banknotes for new-style banknotes for another three years, and branches of the National Bank will do so indefinitely.

During the period of their concurrent circulation, banknotes of the new and old designs are legal payment instruments and must be accepted at their face value throughout the Republic of Kazakhstan for all types of payments and transfers, as well as deposits into bank accounts.
