The National Bank participated in the second “Central Asia - United States” Summit
As part of the visit of the Head of State, H.E. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Washington, D.C., the delegation of the National Bank of Kazakhstan took part in the second “Central Asia – United States” Summit in the “C5+1” format.
The summit focused on strengthening cooperation between the United States and the countries of Central Asia across various sectors. The summit, attended by heads of state, government representatives, and business leaders, underscores the interest of major powers in Central Asian countries and serves as an effective platform for developing multilateral cooperation.
During the summit, Deputy Governor of the National Bank, Mr. A. Baimagambetov, participated in a special “C5+1” business conference session, where the prospects for investment cooperation between the United States and Central Asian countries were discussed.
On the sidelines of the summit, the National Bank and the National Bank's National Investment Corporation (NIC) have signed a number of strategic cooperation agreements with major US investment companies, including Cerberus Capital Management, Brookfield Asset Management, and Ashmore Investment Advisors.
Under these initiatives, US investment companies and NIC intend to leverage their institutional expertise to expand Kazakhstan’s investment opportunities and develop capital markets with a view toward scaling to the broader Central Asia and Caucasus region.
In addition, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the National Bank and the global payment system Visa. The parties intend to create a Center of Excellence based on the National Bank's National Payment Corporation to test innovative solutions in the payment market, including testing card services using digital assets. One of the key priorities of the Memorandum will also be to enhance the National Bank's Anti-Fraud Center’s operations.
