March inflation sped up in 16 regions of Kazakhstan

In March, annual inflation in the country accelerated and made 10.0% (9.4% in February). Increase in the inflation rate was recorded in 16 regions, slowdown in 4 regions.

The highest value of annual inflation was recorded in Astana, 13.3%.

Prices for food products in March rose to 7.6% y/y (6.5% in February). Maximum growth in prices for goods in this group was reported in Akmola Region (10.6%), and the minimum – in the Regions of Zhambyl, Kostanay and Turkestan (6.3% each).

The growth rate of prices for non-food products in March accelerated to 7.1% y/y (8.7% in February). Maximum value was recorded in Turkestan Region (15.2%), minimum – in Almaty Region (5.8%).

Prices for paid services in March rose to 14.3% y/y (14.1% in February). Along with that, price acceleration significantly higher than the national level is reported in West Kazakhstan Region (19.1%), and was considerably below the national level in the Pavlodar Region (7.2%).

In March, monthly inflation in the country rose by 1.3%.
