2024 results: people in Kazakhstan sent 789 billion KZT abroad through international money transfer systems
Total volume of money transfers carried out through the International Money Transfer System (IMTS) in 2024 made 1.05 trillion KZT. This is 21% lower than in 2023.
97% of all transactions made through the IMTS without opening an account are cross-border transfers between Kazakhstan and other countries.
Volume of money transfers sent abroad amounted to 788.9 billion KZT or 77% of the total volume of cross-border transfers carried out through the IMTS. Average amount of one transfer from Kazakhstan abroad was 373, 600 KZT.
Main recipient countries of these transfers carried out through the IMTS are Uzbekistan (29.7%), Russia (29.4%), Turkey (19.8%), Georgia (6.8%) and Kyrgyzstan (3.7%). Almost 83% of these transfers were transacted via Zolotaya Korona system.

Volume of money transfers received from abroad totaled 236.8 billion KZT or 23% of the total volume of cross-border transfers carried out through the IMTS. Average amount of one transfer to Kazakhstan from abroad was 300.600 KZT.
Main sending countries of these transfers via the IMTS are Russia (26.1%), the US (13.7%), South Korea (10.3%), Uzbekistan (10.0%) and Turkey (8.6%). Zolotaya Korona and Western Union payment systems account for bulk of the transactions (81%).

We note that the International Money Transfer Systems are used for transfers without opening a bank account. Basically, these transfers are gratuitous transfers between individuals.
