Holding Kazakhstan Finance Day in New-York

On October 28, in New York, the National Bank held the Kazakhstan Finance Day event, organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the USA with Citi support.

The main goal of Kazakhstan Finance Day is to increase the attention of international investors and potential business partners to the opportunities for developing joint business, innovations, and technologies in Kazakhstan. Holding Kazakhstan Day in one of the international financial centers is aimed at strengthening economic ties and attracting investments to Kazakhstan.

In the context of global uncertainty, this platform provided a unique opportunity for key players in the global financial market, investors, and funds to familiarize with the dynamics of Kazakhstan's economic development, its potential, and current investment projects.

The Conference was attended by more than 450 delegates, foreign investors, representatives of international financial institutions, the first heads of state authorities of financial and economic units, quasi-state companies, second-tier banks and financial institutions.

Speakers at the event included leaders from the National Bank, the Agency of Kazakhstan for Financial Market Regulation and Development, Kazakhstan Development Bank, Baiterek NMH, Kazakhstan Stock Exchange, Astana International Financial Centre, Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan, Kaspi.kz, NAC Kazatomprom JSC, Citi, Mastercard, Visa, largest financial and investment companies, industry and other organizations.

The event provided a macro overview of the economy, dynamics of financial services and capital market development, investment opportunities and long-term plans for the state's development. Investors also received up-to-date information on achievements in digitalization and further plans to improve the technological advancement, security and efficiency of the national financial infrastructure. In addition, information was provided on the liberalization of banking legislation for entering the Kazakhstan market, as well as financial instruments and investment mechanisms.

At the panel discussion on capital markets, the executives of the Kazakhstan Development Bank, Kazakhstan Stock Exchange, Mastercard, Visa, Freedom Holding, Cerberus Global Investments, Bloomberg discussed how the promotion of financial services in the context of digitalization and technological innovations are changing the landscape of the financial sector, providing new opportunities to improve efficiency and accessibility of services.

As part of the session on investment opportunities in the real sector of the economy with the participation of the management of NUH Baiterek, NAC Kazatomprom JSC, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other companies, parties discussed the prospects for long-term growth of the real economy, as well as outlined the conditions and advantages offered to foreign investors.

Separate sessions and presentations for investors and professional market participants on direct and portfolio investments were conducted. Networking sessions were also held during the Conference to establish business connections and strengthen partner relations.

The event is expected to increase interest in the Kazakhstan market and serve as a catalyst for new joint projects and initiatives. Attracting investors will also contribute to the development of Kazakhstan's export opportunities and foreign trade.
