National Bank of Kazakhstan and Central bank of Germany signed memorandum of understanding
On 16 September, Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, Mr. Timur Suleimenov, and Mr. Burkhard Balz, a member of the Executive Board of the Central Bank of Germany, who arrived in Kazakhstan as part of the official delegation of German Federal Chancellor, Mr. Olaf Scholz, signed a bilateral memorandum of understanding.
The conclusion of the memorandum will make it possible to expand professional collaboration and expert dialogue on key issues of central banks' operations, including enhancing the efficiency of communications within the monetary policy implementation framework, macroprudential regulation and measures aimed at promoting financial stability. It is also intended to cooperate on advancing governance and risk management, development of research, fintech, digitalization in the financial sector and regulation of digital financial assets.
Under the provisions of the memorandum technical cooperation includes bilateral meetings, mutual workshops and expert meetings to discuss best practices and international experience.
During the visit, heads of the central banks of Kazakhstan and Germany held a bilateral meeting to discuss plans and areas of cooperation in 2025. Key agreements were reached, which will drive the implementation of bilateral initiatives and contribute to the expansion of cooperation.
