Annual inflation slowed down in May in most regions of Kazakhstan  

In May, the country’s annual inflation slowed down to 8.5% (8.7% in April). In terms of regions, annual inflation slowed down in 16 regions, while in 1 region it accelerated and in 3 regions it remained unchanged.

The highest values of annual inflation were recorded in Karagandy region and Astana city.

Growth pace of food products in May slowed down to 5.5% YoY (6.3% in April 2024). The highest increase in prices for goods in this group was observed in Almaty city (8.3%), while the lowest was in Turkistan region (3.4%).

The growth rate of prices for non-food products remained at the same level of 7.6% YoY (7.6% in April). The maximum value was recorded in Mangystau region (14.2%), while the minimum was in Almaty region (5.5%).

Prices for paid services in May accelerated to 13.9% YoY (13.5% in April). At the same time, prices rose significantly higher than the national level in Karagandy region (18.0%) and significantly lower in Ulytau region (8.3%).

In May, growth of monthly inflation in the country amounted to 0.4%, which is lower than the historical average (0.5% in May 2017-2021).
