National Bank of Kazakhstan participated in the meeting of Steering Committee of the IMF Regional Center in Almaty

The National Bank of Kazakhstan took part in the second meeting of the Steering Committee of the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia Regional Capacity Development Center of the International Monetary Fund.

The Steering Committee includes representatives of the member countries[1], partners and donors, as well as the IMF representatives. This year the Committee is chaired by the Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, Ms. Aliya Moldabekova.

During a virtual meeting, the members of the Steering Committee approved the Work Plan until April 2022. The Center is planning to organize a number of IMF technical assistance programmes for the member countries in the main areas: macroeconomics, public finance management, monetary policy, financial market regulation, and statistics.

Technical assistance programmes have been carried out since February 2021 to deliver the best international experience and the IMF expertise. As short term projects, the Center has become a platform for exchange of experience by conducting seminars and webinars since July 2020. Specifically, the representatives of the National Bank of Kazakhstan participated in 12 webinars and 3 regional events as speakers and expert audience.

Location of the Center in the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia region provides access to the best international experience for the member countries and makes a significant contribution to development of human capital and public administration practices.

The next Steering Committee meeting will take place on December 7, 2021.
