The delegation of the National Bank headed by its Governor, Mr. E. Dossaev, took part in formal events and held a number of bilateral virtual meetings during the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WB).

On April 5, the Governors of central banks, Ministers of Economy/Finance of the Caucasus and Central Asia discussed the effectiveness of anti-crisis measures, stressed the need for structural reforms and the importance of systematic risk monitoring, coordination, and communication.

On April 6, the Governor of the National Bank, Mr. E. Dossaev, made a report at the collegial Governors discussion of the central banks of the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The issues of timely winding down anti-crisis economic support measures were discussed at the meeting, also noting the importance of balanced support measures and ensuring financial stability.

Representatives of the National Bank, the Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market and the Ministry of National Economy took part in the meeting of the Swiss Subgroup of the IMF and the World Bank (Swiss Constitution), chaired by Swiss Finance Minister, Mr. U. Maurer. The member countries of the Subgroup exchanged views on measures to address the consequences of the pandemic and the importance of strengthening cooperation.

On April 15, the Governor of the National Bank, Mr. E. Dossaev, and the IMF Managing Director, Mdm. K. Georgieva held a virtual meeting. The parties discussed current macroeconomic environment in Kazakhstan and the prospects for bilateral cooperation.

At the virtual meeting with the IMF Deputy Managing Director, Mr. T. Zhang, parties discussed provision of technical assistance from the IMF, opening a Regional Capacity Development Center for the Caucasus, Central Asia and Mongolia, and consultations under the IMF mission visit program.

The Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan also met with the Chairman of the National Bank of Switzerland, Mr. T. Jordan. The parties addressed bilateral cooperation issues, in particular, technical assistance, and fostering cooperation within the Swiss Subgroup of the IMF and the World Bank.
