THE 5 000 TENGE BANKNOTE WAS RECOGNIZED AS THE BEST BANKNOTE IN THE WORLD IN 2012
The International Bank Note Society (IBNS) named the Kazakhstani tenge as the Banknote of the Year for the second year in a row. In May 2013, the results of the annual IBNS competition were announced, and Kazakhstan's newly designed 5,000 tenge banknote was awarded the title of "Best Banknote of 2012." Approximately 100 new banknotes issued worldwide in 2012 were submitted for the competition. Kazakhstan's 5,000 tenge banknote was recognized as the best for its design, concept, technical execution, and security features. The 5,000 tenge banknote of Kazakhstan was issued on December 30, 2011. Its design was created by the National Bank's designers and printed at the Banknote Factory of the National Bank.
