In the 3-quarter of 2006 second-tier banks and JSC «Kazpost» performed 26.7 mln. transactions valued at a total of 29 086.5 billion KZT with using payment instruments presented in the Table 1. Overall the use of various payment instruments has been increased.

Compared with the 3-quarter of 2005 the volume of various payment instruments used increased by 18.8 percent, and the value of payments increased by 2.3 times.

Growth in the total volume of payment instruments was due mainly to an increase inhe volume of payment orders by 4 405.6 thousand transactions. Growth in the value of payments was dueto an increase in the amount of payments using payment orders by 16 019.0 billion KZT.

As before payment orders and payment cards are the instruments used most commonly on theterritory of Kazakhstan. The average value of payment order in the 3-quarter of 2006 was 3.7 million KZT and in comparison with the 3-quarter of 2006 increased by 2.4 times. The high proportion of transactions using payment cards and the low volume of payments is due to the use of this payment instrument primarily for the withdrawal of small sums of cash (the average amount of a cash withdrawal transaction in the 3-quarter of 2006 was 19.2 thousand KZT).

Payment request-orders and collection orders are used the least frequently. The insignificant part of use of given instruments in total volume and value is caused by their specificity.
