Berik Sholpankulov

Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan

Berik Sholpankulov was born on March 4, 1976.

In 1996 graduated from Kazakh National Agrarian University with a degree in “Accounting, Control and Analysis of Economic Activities”. In 2016 completed Master’s degree at the National Defense University named after the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy.

Berik Sholpankulov started his career in 1996 as an expert of the Cash Balances Management, Cash Balance Division, Treasury Department, Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From October 2001 to July 2004 he was in the position of the Head of Cash Management and State Liabilities Recognition Division, Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From July 2004 to December 2008 – Deputy Chairman, Treasury Committee, Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From December 2008 to June 2014 – Vice Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From June 2014 to October 2016 – Vice Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Economy and Finance.

From November to December of 2016 – Chairman of the Financial Monitoring Committee, Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan. 

From December 2016 to March 2019 – Vice Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From March 2019 to April 2021 – First Vice Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On April 5, 2021 Berik Sholpankulov was appointed the Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan by the Republic of Kazakhstan Presidential Decree.

During his career Berik Sholpankulov was awarded the Order “Qurmet”, medal “Eren Enbegi Ushin”, the jubilee medals “20 Years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, “25 years of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, “10 Years Anniversary of Astana”, «30 years to Kazakhstan Tenge» the badge “Excellence in Financial Service, medal “For Contribution to the Formation of the Eurasian Economic Union” II degree, and appreciation letters of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
