The National Bank of Kazakhstan announces the launch of the “Gold Coin” project, the digital equivalent of an investment coin, on March 17, 2025.

The new investment instrument is available for purchase in the Tabys mobile application of the Astana International Financial Center Exchange (Astana International Exchange, AIX).

The goal of the Gold Coin project is to provide citizens of Kazakhstan with an alternative source of investment and capital accumulation in the digital economy and modern technologies.                  

One Gold Coin unit is equal to 1/20 of a troy ounce of gold. Its value depends on the gold price set by the London Precious Metals Market Association (LBMA) and the official tenge-US dollar exchange rate on the day before the purchase/sale.

Users of the Tabys mobile application will be able to buy, sell and donate Gold Coin online. Also, upon accumulation of twenty equivalents (units) of Gold Coin, it can be exchanged for a physical gold investment coin ÚKI in the territorial branches of the National Bank.  

The ÚKI investment coin is being issued in circulation and will be available for purchase from March 17, 2025.

Investment coins must be accepted at their face value throughout the Republic of Kazakhstan for all types of payments as well as for crediting to bank accounts and for transfer, they must be changed and exchanged in all banks in Kazakhstan. The production of investment coins is carried out at the Kazakhstan Mint.
