The National Bank releases into circulation SHYMBULAQ and TULPAR collectible coins

The National Bank of Kazakhstan (the NBK) issues into circulation collectible coins SHYMBULAQ from the coin series “Natural Gems of Kazakhstan” and TULPAR from the series “Legends and Myths of Nomads”.

The coins will be sold through the NBK online store kazcoins.nationalbank.kz starting from December 20, 2024.

About SHYMBULAQ collectible coins

The SHYMBULAQ coin launches the "Natural Gems of Kazakhstan" series, designed to showcase the beauty and richness of our country's nature. This series will feature coins dedicated to various natural landmarks, including mountains, canyons, bodies of water, and other natural wonders.

The design of the SHYMBULAQ coin incorporates a stylized outline of Kazakhstan’s map, highlighting the Shymbulak Ski Resort and a skier surrounded by petroglyphs and elements of the Saka style. The geographical coordinates of the Shymbulak Ski Resort are inscribed in the lower-right corner of the coin.

The coins are made of 925-grade silver using color printing technology and an iridescent interference coating. Each coin weighs 31.1 grams, is 45x30 mm in size, has proof quality, and a face value of 1000 tenge. The coin’s mintage is limited to 1000 (one thousand) pieces.

About TULPAR collectible coins

TULPAR is the first coin in the new series, "Legends and Myths of Nomads”. This series was designed to enhance cultural awareness among the people of Kazakhstan and its visitors.

TULPAR, the mythical winged horse in Turkic mythology, symbolizes speed, strength, freedom, and inspiration. It holds a significant place in the folklore and epics of many Turkic peoples.

The coins are made of 925-grade silver using gilding technology, weighing 31.1 grams, 38.61 in diameter, has proof quality and a face value of 1000 tenge. The coin’s mintage is limited to 1000 (one thousand) pieces.

Collectible coins must be accepted at their face value throughout the Republic of Kazakhstan for all types of payments as well as for crediting to bank accounts and for transfer, they must be changed and exchanged in all banks of the country.

The coins were produced at the Kazakhstan Mint.
