Issue of collectors’ coins into circulation

The National Bank of Kazakhstan (hereinafter the ‘NBK’) issues AHMET BAITURSYNULY. 150 JYL and TALǴAT BIGELDINOV. 100 JYL collectors’ coins. These coins continue the series Outstanding Events and People.

Information about a sale date of the coins will be additionally posted on an official website of the NBK.

About AHMET BAITURSYNULY. 150 JYL collectors’ coins

September 5, 2022 is the 150th anniversary of a Kazakh educator, public figure, scientist, linguist and turkologist Ahmet Baitursynov.

At the center of the front side (obverse) the coins depict the State Emblem of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Elements of the national ornament are to its left and right. Inscriptions QAZAQSTAN ULTTYQ BANKI • NATIONAL BANK OF KAZAKHSTAN run along the circumference. At the bottom of the coins, there are inscriptions indicating their denominations: 500 TEŃGE – on a silver coin, 100 TEŃGE – on a cupronickel coin. On the left side they have inscription Ag 925, indicating metal of the coin and its fineness, on the right side – inscription 24 g, indicating its mass.

Reverse side of the coin has a portrait image of Ahmet Baitursynov, styled as poster graphics. Inscriptions 150 JYL and Ahmet Baıtursynuly are to the right of the portrait, framed by a stylized image of a book. At the top, the coin contains NBK logo and its mintage year, 2022. At the bottom, there is an image of a pen, life years of Ahmet Baitursynov, 1872 and 1937. Inscription Bilim álemdi qutqarady is at the bottom under the image of the pen.

Coins are made:

- from silver weighing 24 grams, diameter 37 mm, proof quality, face value 500 KZT, 2,000 coins in circulation;

- from cupronickel alloy MH 25 weighing 15 grams, diameter 33 mm, brilliant uncirculated quality, face value 100 KZT, 20,000 coins in circulation;

About TALǴAT BIGELDINOV. 100 JYL collectors’ coins

August 5, 2022 is the 100th anniversary of a Soviet attack pilot, Aviation Major General Talgat Bigeldinov.

At the center of the front side (obverse) the coins depict the State Emblem of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Elements of the national ornament are to its left and right. Inscription 100 TEŃGE indicating a face value of the coin is at the bottom. Inscriptions QAZAQSTAN ULTTYQ BANKI • NATIONAL BANK OF KAZAKHSTAN run along the circumference.

Reverse side of the coin contains a portrait image of Talgat Bigeldinov dating back to the time of the end of the Great Patriotic War. To the left of the portrait, there are images of attack aircraft and inscription 100 JYL. Numerical designations of a birth year of Talgat Bigeldinov, 1922, and a minting year of the coin – 2022 as well as inscription TALǴAT BIGELDINOV are set out under the image of the portrait. All inscriptions are separated by stars.

Collectors’ coins are made of cupronickel alloy MH 25 weighing 15 grams, 33 mm in diameter, brilliant uncirculated quality, 100 KZT denomination, 15,000 coins in circulation.

Collectors’ coins must be accepted at their face value throughout the Republic of Kazakhstan for all types of payments as well as for crediting to bank accounts and for transfer, they must be changed and exchanged in all the banks of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Silver coins are issued in souvenir packaging with NBK numbered quality certificates in the state, Russian and English languages. Cupronickel coins are released in individual blister packaging.

Collectors’ coins were produced by Kazakhstan Mint.
