Press-release №25. On the issue of AQQÝ collectible coins

The National Bank of Kazakhstan (hereinafter the “NBK”) issues AQQÝ collectible coins.

Information about the starting date of the coins sale will be additionally posted on the official website of the NBK.

AQQÝ collectible coins

5,000 KZT and 500 KZT denomination silver coins and 200 KZT and 100 KZT denomination  cupronickel coins continue the series “Cult Animals – Totems of Nomads”. Design of the coins in this series combines naturalistic and stencil images of an animal with an allegorical presentation as “Saka animal style”. 

Proto-Turks viewed swan as one of the most ancient totems that personifies Umay, the goddess, the mother of the Earth and an ancestress of people.

 

Description of AQQÝ coins of 5,000 KZT and 500 KZT denomination

Silver coins are produced with the use of gold plating technology and a diamond insert. Coins have an identical images of the obverse and reverse sides. The coins obverse depicts the year of mintage, denomination, trademark of the Kazakhstan Mint and inscriptions indicating the metal and its fineness, as well as the coins weight - framed with the national ornament. Inscriptions QAZAQSTAN RESPÝBLIKASY • REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN are located along the circumference.

In the center of the coins reverse is a composition of a naturalistic and stencil image of swans with a diamond insert of 2 mm in diameter, the AQQÝ inscription is located at the top part. A wide edging with ornamental decoration elements runs along the perimeter.

Description of AQQÝ coins of 200 KZT and 100 KZT denomination

In the central part of the obverse side, there are State emblem of the Republic of Kazakhstan, trademark of the Kazakhstan Mint and inscriptions indicating the metal and its fineness, as well as the weight of a coin - framed with the national ornament. Inscriptions QAZAQSTAN RESPÝBLIKASY • REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN are located along the circumference. The “2021” inscription indicating the year of mintage is located at the top and “500 TEŃGE” inscription indicating the coins denomination at the bottom part.

Reverse of the coins has a composition of a naturalistic and stencil image of swans. A wide edging with ornamental decoration elements runs along the perimeter.

Coins are produced:

- silver of 925/1000 fineness, 25 oz (777.5 grams), 100 mm in diameter, with one diamond insert of 2 mm in diameter, “proof” quality, 5,000 KZT denomination, mintage 350 pcs;

- silver of 925/1000 fineness, 31.1 grams, 38.61 mm in diameter, with one diamond insert of 1 mm in diameter, “proof” quality, 500 KZT denomination, mintage 4,000 pcs;

- cupronickel (CuNi25), 15 grams, 33 mm in diameter, “рrооf-like” quality, 200 KZT denomination, mintage 10,000 (ten thousand) pcs;

- cupronickel (CuNi25), 11.17 grams, 31 mm in diameter, “brilliant uncirculated” quality, 100 KZT denomination, mintage 30,000 pcs.

The abovementioned coins must be accepted at their face value throughout the Republic of Kazakhstan for all types of payments as well as for crediting to bank accounts and for transfer, they must be changed and exchanged in all the banks of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Silver coins are issued in a souvenir package with numbered quality certificates of the NBK in three languages: Kazakh, Russian and English.

Collectible coins were produced at the Kazakhstan Mint.
