National Bank of Kazakhstan issues silver collectible coins ‘BUǴY’ from the series ‘Cult Animals are Totems of Nomads’ with denominations of 5,000, 500, 200 and 100 tenge into circulation. The information on the date of sale will be additionally posted on the official website of the NBK.

‘BUǴY’ Collectible Coins

This coin continues the series of coins ‘Cult Animals are Totems of Nomads’. Its design is based on a combination of the naturalistic and stencil appearance of the depicted animal with an allegorical presentation on the basis of ‘Saka animal style.

A deer is one of the cult sacred animals in the beliefs of nomadic people. In the view of the Proto-Turks, this totem was interpreted as an ancestor and served as a symbol of procreation.

Description of ‘BUǴY’ Coins with Denomination of 5,000 tenge and 500 tenge

The coins are made of silver using the technologies of gilding and diamond insertion. The coins have identical images of the obverse and reverse sides.

The year of engraving, the denomination of the coin, the trademark of Kazakhstani Mint and the inscription indicating the metal from which the coin was made are all displayed on the obverse of the coin. The side also depicts the national ornament as well as the fineness and weight of the coin. Along the circumference of the coin there is an inscription ‘QAZAQSTAN RESPÝBLIKASY • REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN’.

On the reverse side of the coin there is a composition of naturalistic and stencil image of a deer’s head with a diamond insert of 2 mm in diameter. In the upper part of the coin, the inscription ‘BUǴY’ is depicted. A wide edging with decorative elements is located along the perimeter.

 

 

 

 

 Description of "BUǴY" Coins with Denomination of 200 tenge and 100 tenge

The coins are made of cupronickel MH25 alloy with the ‘prоof-like’ and ‘brilliant uncirculated’ manufacture quality. The gold-plating technology is applied on the ‘prоof-like’ coin.

The year of engraving, the denomination of the coin, the trademark of the Kazakhstan Mint are located on the obverse of the coin, all framed by the national ornament. Along the circumference there is an inscription ‘QAZAQSTAN RESPÝBLIKASY • REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN’.

On the reverse side of the coin there is a composition of naturalistic and stencil image of a deer’s head. In the upper part of the coin, the inscription ‘BUǴY’ is depicted. Along the perimeter there is a wide edging with decorative elements.

 

 

Technical Specifications

1) coins with a denomination of 5,000 tenge are made of 925 sterling silver, have the weight of 25 oz (777.5 g), the diameter of 100 mm, the diamond insert of 2 mm, the ‘proof’ like quality and a circulation of 250 pieces;

2) coins with a denomination of 500 tenge are made of 925 sterling silver, have the weight of 31.1 grams, the diameter of 38.61 mm, the diamond insert of 1 mm, the ‘proof’ like quality and a circulation of 3,500 pieces;

3) coins with a denomination of 200 tenge are made of cupronickel alloy, have the weight of 15 grams, the diameter of 33 mm, the ‘proof’ like quality and a circulation of 7,000 pieces;

4) coins with a denomination of 100 tenge are made of cupronickel alloy, have the weight of of 11.17 grams, the diameter of 31 mm, the ‘brilliant uncirculated’ quality and a circulation of 30,000 pieces.

Collectible coins with denominations of 5,000, 500, 200 and 100 tenge are required to be accepted at their face value throughout the territory of Kazakhstan for all types of payments, as well as for crediting to bank accounts and for money transfers. Collectible coins are also exchanged without any limitations at all Kazakhstani banks.

Silver coins are issued in souvenir packages and are supplied with a numbered quality certificate of National Bank in Kazakh, Russian and English languages. Coins made of cupronickel alloy of ‘proof’ like quality are issued in souvenir packages. Coins made of cupronickel alloy of ‘brilliant uncirculated’ quality are issued in a special printing package.

Collectible coins were made at the Kazakhstani Mint.
