Inflation Trends in Kazakhstan’s regions in March 2022

In March 2022, annual inflation in the country accelerated, and made 12.0% (8.7% in February). In terms of regions, annual inflation sped up in all 17 regions.

The highest acceleration was recorded in Aktobe Region (from 9.0% in February to 12.9% in March) and Shymkent City (from 8.5% to 12.4%).

The growth pace of foodstuff prices in March rose to 15.4% (10.0% in February). The maximum increase in prices for goods of this group was recorded in Aktobe Region (18.5%).

The growth rate of prices for non-food products also grew to 10.9% (8.6% in February). The maximum value was reported in Akmola Region (12.4%), while the minimum value being in reported in Western Kazakhstan Region (9.2%).

Prices for paid services in March increased by 8.3% (7.1% in February), meanwhile prices rose significantly above the national level in Almaty Region and Western Kazakhstan Region (9.4%), significantly lower – in Aktobe Region (5.9%).

Monthly inflation in the country was 3.7%, which is higher than the average of March prices for the past 5 years (0.6% for 2017-2021).

Above their average historical rate, prices in March 2022 increased in all 17 regions. The highest acceleration of the monthly inflation was indicated in Shymkent City (4.3%).
