The National Bank of Kazakhstan (NBK) receives inquiries from the individuals claiming there are cases when businesses refuse to accept 200 KZT banknotes.

NBK reminds that 200 KZT banknotes remain a legal tender. These banknotes are in circulation along with 200 KZT coins. Hence, the 200 KZT banknotes must be accepted for all types of payments, banking operations and remittances.

These banknotes can be changed or exchanged in all commercial bank branches, Kazpost JSC, and the branches of NBK. They are withdrawn from circulation only to the extent of their natural wear and tear.   

Refusal to accept such banknotes entails administrative liability subject to Article 206 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

If a 200 KZT banknote wasrefused, please contact the nearest territorial branch of the NBK. It is also recommended to make a video recording or demand a written justification for refusal to accept the banknotes.
