Procedure of Circulation of 200 KZT Banknotes
Comment by Chief of Directorate at the Department of Cash Currency Circulation of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, Dinara Dautova
Population approaches the National Bank of Kazakhstan (NBK). People make complaints when businessmen refuse to accept 200 KZT denomination banknotes.
NBK provides a reminder that 200 KZT banknotes remain legal money. They are in circulation along with 200 KZT coins. They must be accepted for all the types of payments, banking operations and remittances.
These banknotes can be changed or exchanged in all the divisions of banks and Kazpost JSC and also in NBK branches. They are withdrawn from circulation only to the extent of their natural wear and tear.
Refusal to accept such banknotes entails administrative liability subject to Article 206 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
If your 200 KZT banknote was denied, you need to contact the nearest territorial branch of the NBK. We recommend to make a video record or demand a written justification of a refusal to accept banknotes.
Addresses and contacts of our branches are set out on NBK website. For extra questions, please contact NBK Contact Center at 1477.
