In the current year the VIII Congress of Financiers of Kazakhstan was held in a new format – with participation of the foreign speakers and guests. More than 500 participants from 20 countries worldwide attended the Congress.  The Congress audience comprised the governors of the central banks of the foreign countries, representatives of the international financial institutions, diplomatic corps, academic and business communities and financial market professionals.

The speakers at the VIII Congress of Financiers of Kazakhstan were: Elvira Nabiullina, Governor of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation; Bayarsaikhan Nadmid, Governor of the Bank of Mongolia; Mamarizo Nurmuratov, Governor of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan; Koba Gvenetadze, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia; Jameel Ahmad, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan; Vojtěch Benda, member of the Board of the Czech National Bank; Go Jianwei, President of Xinjiang Branch of People's Bank of China; Mark Horton, Head of IMF Mission in Kazakhstan; David Walker, Secretary General, International Association of Deposit Insurers; Igor Suvorov, President of the Interstate Bank, and others.

The Congress program consisted of the plenary meetings and panel sessions covering the following topics:

• Challenges facing a central bank in the present-day environment
• Kazakhstan’s financial market in the conditions of the modern financial architecture
• The use of national currencies in cross-border settlements: prerequisites, barriers and prospects
• Risk-based supervision: International practices. Challenges facing the financial industry in Kazakhstan Cash money: decline or rebirth
• Cash Money – in Decline or in Revival?
• Protection of Rights of Financial Services Consumers in the Present-Day Realities. Looking to the Future
• The Role of Program «7–20–25» In creation of a multiplicative effect in the economy of Kazakhstan

At the same time, the architecture of the Congress events included the following events:

1. The 39th Meeting of the Eurasian Council of Central (National) Banks;
2. The 18th Meeting of the Advisory Council on Monetary Policy of the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union;
3. The 6th Meeting of the Working Group on Coordination of Development of National Payment Systems of the Central (National) Banks of the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union;
4. The 7th Meeting of the Advisory Council on the Protection of the Rights of Consumers of Financial Services and Financial Affordability;
5. The Kazakhstan Stock Exchange Forum.
