National Bank held a meeting with participants of fintech market and crypto industry

Governor of the National Bank Timur Suleimenov held a meeting with representatives of non-bank fintech companies, crypto providers, financial and payment service providers, and payment organizations. Participants discussed development of the digital financial infrastructure, innovative fintech services, legislative regulation of digital asset circulation, and launch of pilot projects.

The National Bank presented information about its ongoing comprehensive efforts to develop the national digital financial infrastructure and its key elements, such as the Open API platform, the interbank card payment system, the digital tenge, and the Anti-Fraud Center.

Focus was made on circulation and regulation of secured and unsecured digital financial assets, including cryptocurrencies. During the meeting, participants also discussed plans to launch pilot projects, including asset tokenization, stablecoin issue, development of crypto-fiat gateways, and creation of custodial services.

Participants of the meeting also presented their initiatives for launching the new digital services designed to increase financial inclusion and expand an access to modern payment products.

Moreover, the parties discussed the possibility of further cooperation through the National Bank's "regulatory sandbox" and expressed their willingness to cooperate on creation of a sustainable and secure environment for development of digital financial instruments.

Direct dialogue with market participants will help expand the range of companies involved in development of new business models and digital innovations, while cooperation will accelerate safe and secure launch of new products.

Expanded capabilities of FinTech companies to launch new pilot projects will also increase competition between banks and FinTech ecosystem of the country, help reduce transaction costs, and make services more accessible to the general public. This will ultimately contribute to development of competitiveness of the financial sector.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Governor of the National Bank Timur Suleimenov announced plans to expand format of such meetings and make them regular.

As a reminder, on 3 June 2025, during a meeting with second-tier banks and digital asset service providers of the Astana International Financial Center, the National Bank launched a crypto-fiat channel with the use of "crypto cards."
