EEC Advisory Committee will develop recommendations on economic stabilization for the EAEU Member States

Representatives of the National Bank of Kazakhstan have participated in the XVI Meeting of the Advisory Committee on Macroeconomic Policy under the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

Attendees of the online event were heads and deputies of the ministries of finance, economy, and central banks of the EAEU Member States. The meeting was chaired by the ЕЕС Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics Sergey Glazyev.

The draft document titled as the “Main Guidelines for EAEU States’ Macroeconomic Policy for 2021 – 2022” was presented during the meeting. The policy document is aimed at the early resolution of the consequences of the economic crisis in the EAEU Member States. The main points of the policy document relate to macroeconomic stability, creation of an enabling environment for recovery of entrepreneurial activity, and expansion of the EAEU domestics market opportunities. The document was submitted for further review by the EAEU bodies.

As a follow-up to the meeting, correspondent recommendations will be produced for the EAEU Member States that have exceeded the threshold quantitative indicators of sustainable economic development. The recommendations will be targeted to stabilize the state budget, public debt levels, and medium term inflation.

Meeting attendees have also approved the research plan for 2021 – 2022, which covers research in the field of targeted assistance mechanisms for economic development, formation of Eurasian investment, scientific and technological consortia, taking into account the EAEU Member States’ and world experience.

The next meeting of the Advisory Committee is expected to be held in October this year.
