The National Bank informs that on February 1, 2021, the term for exchanging banknotes with denominations of 2000, 5000 and 10000 tenge of the 2006 sample has ended.

The decision to extend the term for exchanging banknotes of these denominations was made by the National Bank in connection with citizens' appeals. The exchange was carried out in the period from December 21, 2020 to February 1, 2021 for individuals exclusively in the branches of the National Bank.

During this period, the majority of requests for banknote exchange came from residents of Almaty (28.2%), Nur-Sultan (9.5%) and Karaganda region (7.5%). The main share of banknotes accepted for exchange falls on banknotes of 2,000 tenge (44.1%), followed by 5,000 tenge (30.9%) and 10,000 tenge (25.0%).

Due to the completion of the term for exchanging banknotes for the valid national currency, the banknotes of the mentioned nominals of the 2006-year sample are not subject to acceptance and exchange throughout the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and are not legal tender.
