The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) was established in 1991. The EBRD has been providing financial support to more than 40 countries that is aimed to implement structural and economic reforms.
The EBRD entered into the loan agreement with the National Bank of Kazakhstan totaling $122.64 million (in three tranches of А, В and С) and aiming to support small and medium-sized business. In 1997, the National Bank’s liabilities were reduced from $122.64 million to $45.11 million due to cancellation of a part of the loan.
